Amperex EF86 / 6267 Pentode NOS vacuum tube
This tube is marked Amperex but looks to be of Russian (Sovtek) construction with bogus silk screening.
Waffle (points, not squares) plate.
This is in a white JAN box that was not the original box for this tube.
This tube is marked "made in Germany" which is also suspect compared to an actual Amperex.
If you know EF86 tubes you know that NOS EF86 tubes are closer to spec than current production tubes and have a proven service life far in excess of current production tubes.
If you have a Matchless DC-30 type amp, Bad Cat, Dr. Z, Vox AC15 or AC30/4 or one of the many high end boutique amps that use this pentode this is a great tube for those amps.
One feature of these tubes is that all test data is supplied here. This is the same data that is used for all tubes when I blueprint an amp ( ) Since small signal tubes such as 12AX7 types and all small signal tubes which are currently produced vary +/- 50% from spec and are generally at least 30% down from spec they are something of a crapshoot even when new. This is why actually knowing what you are putting into your gear is a big benefit.
You generally will not find many tube vendors that can test these tubes let alone provide test results and curve traces as various bias voltages.
In the end this looks to be a nice EF86 in any case but I suspect it is new production.
