Vintage Galvanized Metal Maple Sap Gathering or Holding Tank. 25 gallon capacity.
We purchased this gathering sap tank from an Amish maple syrup producer in Geauga County, Ohio. From his early hobby days before he grew to become on of the largest producers in the area.
This would be great for the beginning maple syrup producer or would also be a very nice piece to use in a demonstration of older gathering methods - perhaps mounted on a horse drawn sled!
I can remember my father gathering sap in the 1950s and getting mired in the spring mud in our woods with his larger sled drawn tank and tractor...I think he would have appreciated this smaller tank in some of the hard to access areas hitched to my pony Dancer! Wish I could go back to those simpler times. I sincerely hope that you will also have some fine memories from the purchase of this old tank.
The one photo of the lid on but not seated is just to show that the lid fits tightly. It fits down flush with the top.
