Designed to be used by Civil Defense personnel to determine radioactive contamination levels that could result from an enemy attack or other nuclear disaster. Police and firemen used similar units in the '60s.
It measures gamma radiation and will detect as high as 500 roentgens per hour, and will also detect beta radiation from fissionable materials. Runs on 1 D, 4 D or 2 D with 1 AA batteries (not included, no choice).
Measures 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 4" and weighs 4 lbs. Condition: brand new, in 100% good working order.
