This is a Vertex VX-180U Handheld 16 channel UHF (440-MHz) FCC ID K66VX-160U
Note: The charger accepts the batteries only the radio does not ‘drop in’.
I bought this item USED from a local HAM radio collector a few years ago. It is programmed for GMRS Frequencies and HAM, it also Receives (RX ONLY) some fire departments. (This unit does not transmit on the currently programmed “Public Safety†channels it can only receive.)
It does transmit and receive on GMRS and HAM frequencies.
For GMRS and Amateur Radio FCC Licenses are required!
This is a Commercial Radio not Amateur, so it is able to be programmed for commercial application.
I used this in a local club for a few years; I am no longer in the club so it is up for grabs.
The radio was last tested 02/27/08 and was working fine communicated with a base unit on a simplex GMRS channel.
Programming is NOT available thru me.
