The RESISTOMAT® model 2302 operates on the currentvoltage-method in four-terminal measurement principle according to Kelvin. A superimposed, stabilized and calibrated current produces a voltage drop at the object which is measured by a high quality digital voltmeter. This technique offers the advantage that any line resistances either in the current path or at the voltage line do not affect the measuring result. In case of very long current leads the cross section of such leads should be increased so that the burden voltage of approx. 6 V will not be lost on the leads.
The RESISTOMAT® can operate with automatic temperature compensation on test objects of copper or aluminium. An external temperature sensor affects the current feed in such a way that the measuring current is changed by that factor according to VDE specification 0472 that results from the temperature prevailing at that time. Consequently, the measuring result is always the 20 °C value of the test object. A temperature sensor is also available for other test materials.

RESISTOMAT ® digital ohmmeters are the modern and favourablesolution for the accurate, simple and fast measuring of low ohmic resistances. Digital ohmmeters of type 2302 have become significant not only in the field of "Thomson measurings" but have also gained importance in the classical field of "Wheatstone-technique".
