OK We do work with and sell a fair amount of high temperature and super strong metals, but these remnants are probably the highest temperature and strngest material we have had to date. I paid astrononical price for this material and an extra as well for small lot charge, but it was needed to have enough if i messed up any of the parts in production. It is 99%+ molybdenum and i would say it had to been hot rolled and is a black color. It may be punched fairly well and may be best machined by EDM for complex shapes. i was unable to drill or mill it and orming into shape needed to be done with heat and pressure. It is .010 " thick and for sale is a pc that is roughly 6" x 6".
Molybdenum is used for its unique properties wth X-Rays and other radiation, as well as it's ability to maintain extreme strength at temperatures above 2000 degrees F, but will not tolerate any oxygen atmosphere at elevated temps. Has great properties in vacuum and is often used in electron tubes.
