AISI A-6 air hardening cold work tool steel. A-6 can be hardened from relatively low temperatures which results in a low residual stress and reduced chances for distortion. A-6 has lower carbon content than A-2 and is alloyed primarily with manganese instead of chromium. Therefore, A-6 is tougher but has lower wear and temper resistance. Typical applications include bending dies, forming dies, cams, mandrels, master hubs, and shear blades. Material is being offered in 25 pound bundles of misc. flat and bar sizes.
