The Wagner Stati-kit unit is an excellent sprayer for shop use when painting complex metal shapes. Wrought iron, fencing, beams, lockers, grates, grills, etc. This can be used for exterior/field work but windy conditions can overpower the static effect, and the compressed air supply can make it less than an ideal application. When properly operated by trained personnel, the excellent wrap effect can make the usual 4 directional spray on every surface into a front and back spray operation only. Electrostatic spray offers the best transfer efficiencies, minimizes overspray and material quanity requirements.
Air-Assist Airless operation is a method where, fluid pressure, somewhat lower then regular airless spray is utilized. A low pressure air supply assist is added to help completely atomize the paint coating being applied. Paint pressures are generally 500 to 1000psi and air pressure is added at 10 to 30psi. Light viscosity paint material work best as the paint spray orifice is usually .09 to .013 size. Automotive paints, shop primers, quick dry enamels, naptha, lacquer thinner and xylol thinned paints generally are acceptable. Special electrostatic paints are available that guarantee proper polarity should you not want to experiment for best effect.
