I am offering for sale the following EXTREMELY RARE & ANTIQUE fire & sprinkler system related advertising item. This item is a heavy round brass name plate which is also called an escutcheon.
FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM CONNECTION BRASS ESCUTCHEON
SOLID BRASS WITH RAISED LETTERS
Inside Diameter: 4.5" (opening in center)
The Raised Letters on the Escutcheon Reads As Follows:
J.D. MANLEY & CO. - SPRINKLER CONNECTION CONTRACTORS - SPRINGFIELD, MO.
In the photos I have included a picture from a 1957 ALLENCO FIRE PROTECTION supply catalog. On page 35 the catalog offered 3 similiar brass escutcheons, one for WALL HYDRANT, one for STANDPIPE, and one for AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER. The W.D. ALLEN Company name appeared on each. These escutcheons were available with various center hole sizes for pipes of 2 1/2", 3", 4", 5" and 6" in size. The one I am offering must have been for a 4" pipe size. This escutcheon of course was specialized for this local Springfield company and would have been specially cast for J.D. Manley by a foundry. There may be very few others of these in existence, if any at all.
This would make a great conversation piece and be very nice to display on the wall in your home, office, place of business, or workshop.
