MANUFACTURER'S Specifications:
The Agilent 83446A lightwave clock/data receiver is designed to extract clock and data information from digitally modulated lightwave signals at the SONET/SDH data rate of 2.48832 Gb/sec (OC-48/STM-16). It incorporates a high-gain avalanche photodiode (APD), gain-controlled amplifier, and clock/data recovery hybrid to deliver clean, error-free outputs from optical signals with powers as low as -27 dBm at either 1310 or 1550 nm wavelength.
The Agilent 83446A has been designed especially for use with high-speed bit-error-ratio testers (BERTs) such as the Agilent 86130A or 71612C. By connecting the clock and data outputs to the corresponding inputs on the BERT'S error detector, bit-error-ratio analysis can be performed directly on optical signals, making it easy to do system acceptance and BER floor analysis. The Agilent 83446A also has an auxiliary port which allows monitoring of the output of the APD prior to regeneration.

IN THE EVENT A SOLD ITEM CAN NOT BE CALIBRATED BEFORE DELIVERY: Before our items are put into inventory they are examined in our lab for operational status. Some are then stored in the warehouse until sold at which point it is brought back into the lab for a complete testing and the issuing of the 'CAL/CERT'. Others already have a 'CAL/CERT' issued before being placed in the warehouse. Though rare it is possible for the item to be found during the 'CAL/CERT' process to have a defect not apparent in the initial operational examination. At this point the item is fully reconditioned with the defect corrected... HOWEVER there are times the item my not be repairable or the manufacturer no longer has a part needed to correct the problem. We stock most parts here but there are the times we need to order it and it could happen the part is unavailable. We have multiple units of most of these items and can find one that is completely operational or take a part from one to fix the other.
