Striko Dynarad Melt Furnace. Model - MS-260, Serial Number 1369, 44 KVA, 110 Amps 240 Volts 60 Herz, 3 Phase
This furnace came out of a aluminum coating production line, where it was acting as a molten aluminum resevoir. It has a crucible and furnace wall with a hole in one side where there was a ceramic pipe which flowed molten aluminum over to a second furnace. Probably the hole can be plugged to allow the full capacity of the crucible. Worst case another crucible will be required. Where the hole passes through the side of the furnace, the heating coil has been removed to make room for the hole. The heating panels look very clean. Each heating coil has about 17 ohms resistance. Each phase has about 3 ohms resistance to the other.
The manufacturer lists the stock crucible with out the side hole at about $1000 USD. There is also a bell jar included that was inverted inside the crucible to allow for level control of the molten aluminum in the crucible. The crucible rings when you tap it, does not seem to be dead.
Operating manual recommends up to 2000F for a setpoint. I have a pdf of the operating manual, ask and I can email it to you.
We have an SCR power controller for this unit, and are still looking for a transformer before we can start the smelter up ourselves. The temperature controller is a Watlow Solid State Power Control model PC20-F25B-0000. See below for power controller photos. The heater crucible is about 21" inside diameter and 23" deep. The wall thickness is about 1.5". Oven box is about 48" wide x48" long.
