Has 7.5V NiCd battery that takes a charge, but I can't vouch for its life.
Description revision: I have been made aware that this is a Motorola GP-300 VHF 148-174 MHz, 7 Ch, 5 Watt Handheld Radio and Speaker/Mic, Antenna. Please pardon my lack of knowledge on these matters. It is apparently not a UHF Band 450-470. The model number remains the same. Thanks for your understanding in this matter.
Actually, it appears that it is both a UHF and a VHF radio. Sigh. Someone knows. I don't. Good luck, my friend.
